Optional Coach of the Year Spring 2026
Nominations
Kirsten Menatti (CGA)
Kirsten is
an outstanding optional coach, who is passionate about vault and
innovative in her approach. She is highly respected throughout
the NorCal community and produces technical athletes and
consistently top-scoring vaults. She is knowledgeable,
impactful, and a very deserving candidate for Optional Coach of
the Year
Lisa Terry (Head Over Heels)
Lisa is an absolute light
on the competition floor. She has brought an energy to
Head Over Heels that is contagious. We love rotating with
her at meets. Not only are her kids good, but they are
happy. One of our athletes asked Lisa to cheer for her at
Regionals and Lisa was the loudest one in the floor area.
Monica Subieata (Ultimate Sports Connection)
I am thrilled to nominate Monica Subieata for
Optional Coach of the Year. For the past six years, Monica has
been my business partner and co-head coach at Ultimate Sports
Connection. Her dedication is truly unmatched, often working
over 20 hours a day to ensure the success of our team and
athletes.
Monica is not only a phenomenal coach but also
a devoted mother, supporting her 11-year-old daughter's dream of
becoming an elite athlete by driving her to Airborne four days a
week for training.
Despite her busy schedule, she efficiently
manages half of our business operations, including planning team
parties, coordinating competition schedules, handling payroll,
organizing uniforms, and more. Her commitment extends beyond our
business as she balances her roles as a mother and an
outstanding coach.
Under her guidance, our competitive athletes
have surpassed all expectations, achieving remarkable success.
It is with great admiration and respect that I nominate Monica
Subieata for this prestigious award. Her passion, dedication,
and impact on both our business and athletes make her truly
deserving of the title Optional Coach of the Year.
Trevel "Coach T" Williams (Airborne Gymnastics)
It is with great pride that we nominate Trevel "Coach T" Williams for Northern California Optional Coach of the Year in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the NorCal Women’s Gymnastics Association through excellence in competition.
In his first year at Airborne Gymnastics, Coach T has made an immediate and profound impact on both the performance and culture of our optional program. He has worked directly with more than 45 gymnasts ranging from Level 6 through Level 10, playing a pivotal role in their development, preparation, and competitive success throughout the season.
Beyond results, Coach T exemplifies the professionalism and character that define the Northern California gymnastics community. At competitions, he is consistently kind, respectful, and supportive—not only to his own athletes, but to others as well. He is known for stepping in to assist fellow coaches, whether by helping set equipment or offering support where needed. His presence on the competition floor reflects integrity, teamwork, and a genuine love for the sport.
Coach T was a key contributor to Airborne’s achievement as State Team Champions at Level 6, Level 8, and Level 9. His technical expertise—particularly in spotting and skill development—has elevated the performance level of our athletes, with measurable results reflected in their competitive outcomes. His ability to break down complex skills, implement effective progressions, and build athlete confidence has been instrumental in our team’s success.
Perhaps most notably, Coach T has had a profound impact on the culture of our program, particularly among our college-bound athletes. He has reignited their enthusiasm, strengthened their connection to the sport, and reminded them why they fell in love with gymnastics in the first place. His ability to motivate, inspire, and lead with both strength and compassion has made a lasting difference in their experience.
In a single season, Travol "Coach T" Williams has demonstrated an exceptional standard of excellence in coaching, athlete development, and professional conduct. His contributions have elevated not only the performance of his athletes, but the spirit of our program and community.
We are honored to nominate Coach T for Northern California Optional Coach of the Year.
